Medieval Christian thinkers almost uniformly affirm that there is some action or state of mind that cannot, or will not, be divinely forgiven. This presentation examines common threads in influential Medieval Christian descriptions of this most serious form of wrongdoing, in an attempt to better understand Medieval Christian accounts of under-studied vices and sins like despair, blasphemy and hardness of heart. This event will be held in the Raven Room at the St. Scholastica Library.

Ecstatic dance is free-form movement inspired by music. The Ecstatic Dance Duluth group holds dances on the second Friday and last Sunday of each month. The focus is on exercise without a nightclub vibe. All are invited to a Mass for Suicide Healing & Remembrance. Attendees will pray for loved ones lost to suicide, for suicide-attempt survivors, and for healing for those who grieve their passing. The group will also pray for prevention of suicide by raising awareness and helping those in need. After-mass prayer teams will be present for those who would like to talk and pray.

Lisa McKhann instructs this mindfulness meditation practice, held in person and over Zoom. In four one-hour weekly sessions, participants learn the basics of “insight meditation,” the act of stilling the mind with compassion and awareness, based in Theravada Buddhism.
