The St. Louis River Alliance is in need of volunteers throughout the month of July to assist with managing woody debris at the Piping Plover Site in Wisconsin. During these days, participants will be managing woody debris from the shoreline and burning it onsite. Gloves, buckets and contracting bags will be provided. The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve are hosting a spotted knapweed removal on Wisconsin Point and are looking for volunteers. Community members of all ages are invited to the point to support healthy ecosystems for local, native plants. No prior experience with knapweed is required. During the event, attendees can check out the brand new Rice Lake City Playground. Entry is $20 for an all-day wristband, $10 for children 5 and under and $3 for a one-time ticket.
