Charlie Parr, a blues and folk guitarist and songwriter, plays live on Wednesdays in January at the Cedar Lounge Earth Rider Brewery taproom. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show starts 7 p.m.

Sir Ben's hosts an open bluegrass jam every Wednesday night. Performers bring their own instruments.

Landscapes is an instrumental and improvisational band that plays a mix of blues, soul, jazz and pop. Parking for the Rathskeller is available in the HART District Ramp #2513 at 125 E. Superior St. and at the Muffler Clinic Parking Lot #2564 at 25 E. Michigan St.

Everyone is welcome regardless of ability. Instruction, songbooks and refreshments are provided. No religious affiliation or agenda will be emphasized.

The Homegrown Music Festival's annual Winter Fiasco is a free showcase of local rawk and/or roll. This year's event features 12 bands at four venues in Superior.

Rock band Discord at Dawn holds a winter residency at the Caddy Shack featuring different biweekly themed shows. The first week features a performance by Deep Fake Five. Quoth the organizer: "Everyone get Illuminaughty! Wear your foil hats, lizard people masks (or human masks if you are a lizard person), and sandwich boards because the band is nigh! We're all going conspiracy crazy with Deep Fake Five! All are welcome, regardless of whether the Earth is round, sausage-shaped, or hollow."…

This program of music for flute and piano by New Zealand composers features Duluth native Johanna Gruskin, principal piccolo in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and Jessica Schroeder, music faculty member at CSS. The program will also include new compositions by Duluth composer Mina Kaiser.

The St. Scholastica High School Honor Band Festival brings together high school wind, brass and percussion players in grades 10-12 from across Minnesota and Wisconsin. Under the direction of Derek Bromme, the 2025 Honor Band will present their culminating festival concert, open to the public.\\

The next program in St. Scholastica's "Lunch with Friends" series spotlights music for flute and piano by New Zealand composers and features Duluth native Johanna Gruskin (principal piccolo in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra) and Jessica Schroeder (music faculty member at CSS). Lakeside-Lester Park Community Center hosts Woodblind for a concert. Jason Wussow and Veikko Lepisto have been playing a stripped-down version of the genre as Woodblind for a full decade with just a guitar and a stand-up bass.

In 40 minutes and three parts, this choral opera tells the story of Nora, a woman having a very bad day. She seeks solace by locking herself inside her apartment and turning on the radio. The chorus represents the inner monologue of her life and the imaginative possibilities that await her.
