Choose an hour to learn everything you need to know to brew kombucha. This hands-on class will cover ingredient selection, brewing, fermenting, bottling, flavoring and tasting. You don't need to bring anything to this class. You will go home with your first gallon of tea, a recipe, a Scoby starter and a jar to contain it all. The Young Athletes Foundation has opened registration for the Park Point 5 Miler event to be held on July 13. With an out-and-back racecourse sandwiched between the Duluth Harbor and the open waters of Lake Superior, participants are treated to some wonderful views at the region’s oldest road race. Plus, the post-race celebration offers some of the greatest traditions of a midsummer night in Minnesota, including food trucks and plenty of yard games for both kids and adults.

Korkii Nordic Center hosts a candlelight fundraiser where attendees can ski the 1.5 candlelit kilometer Dorothy loop, gather around a campfire, and eat soup and bread from The New Scenic Cafe. There will also be sample sweet treats from local bakeries. Dozens of raffle items including local pottery, photographic prints and a night's stay at Lutsen ski area. Proceeds from this event benefit the North Shore Community School Endowment Fund. Tickets are $25 per person, and $10 for children.

The 3rd floor of St. Luke’s Lakeview Building is the new home of Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates. The $5.2 million project allows the clinic to expand and provide care in a vibrant new setting. The ribbon cutting is at 2:00 pm and tours will be from 2:30 - 5 p.m. The revamped space overlooks Lake Superior, has more exam rooms, includes breastfeeding rooms and offers other great features. The clinic opens to patients on Monday, February 20.
