Daily Menu: Northern Waters Smokehaus

While we are cooped up inside, there are still great take-out dining options available to satisfy the taste buds. Next up on Perfect Duluth Day’s daily take-out menu is Northern Waters Smokehaus. Orders can be picked up from the DeWitt–Seitz Marketplace or delivered to a Duluth or Superior address. Platters can also be ordered, but must be requested 24 hours in advance. Patricia’s featured baked goods are currently carrot cake cookies and coconut macaroons, which can be ordered by the dozen or half dozen 48 hours in advance.

Iconic Jade Fountain will see new life in West Duluth

A long-running and largely unchanged Chinese restaurant — which closed for almost five years — will be reborn under new ownership as a tiki lounge when nightlife returns to normal in Duluth.

Daily Menu: At Sara’s Table / Chester Creek Cafe

Update: At Sara’s Table / Chester Creek Cafe ceased its curbside, pickup and delivery operations on March 31, then on May 15 relaunched pickup service via a new drive-through hut. Enter the parking lot on 19th Avenue East, order at the menu board, pick up at the window. Orders can also be made online or by phone.

Daily Menu: Bulldog Pizza

The “Daily Menu” showcases local take-out options and Covid-19 related deals. Tune into Perfect Duluth Day tomorrow for yet another social-distance dining option.

Bulldog Pizza offers curbside orders from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Orders can be made online or by calling 218-728-3663. The current special is two single-topping medium pizzas for $15. While families are cooped up inside, Bulldog Pizza is also offering the option to order “pizza party in a box,” which includes ingredients for four mini pizzas for families and their kids to make at home.

Daily Menu: 7 West Taphouse

As we continue adjusting to social distancing practices, Perfect Duluth Day presents episode number two of the “Daily Menu.” Each day, we showcase another local take-out option.

7 West Taphouse offers curbside orders from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily from its Miller Hill, Downtown Duluth and Superior locations. All health-care workers, emergency response workers, and grocery store workers can show their ID badge or name tag to receive 15 percent off of their order.

Yesterday, I snagged five pieces of tiramisu from Wussow’s through the drive-through window, in a nearly touchless exchange. A few days before, Zhong Hua made some tasty Chinese in, again, a nearly touchless exchange.

Daily Menu: Dubh Linn Irish Brew Pub

The social-distance dining era is upon us. This post is episode one of Perfect Duluth Day’s probe into the available options.

Dubh Linn Irish Brew Pub is offering curbside service for food orders from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Anyone who orders gets a $15 ticket to a future Dubh Linn Saturday Night Pro Comedy Tour show, which can be redeemed when the establishment reopens for traditional dining and entertainment.

Beijing reopens; Valentini’s on the move to Hermantown

The restaurant options on London Road in Duluth are changing: Beijing Restaurant is reopening this week after a fire kept it shuttered for more than a year. Valentini’s Vicino Lago Italian Restaurant will close later this year as the business transitions to a new Hermantown location.

Upper Deck restaurant at Bong Airport will become hangar

The Upper Deck Restaurant at 1415 N. 46th St. in Superior has been closed for more than a year. Its contents were auctioned off on Jan. 31. According to the Superior Telegram, the new owner will be turning the building into an airplane hangar.

Taco Arcada closing; Noble Pour opening

A post on the Taco Arcada Facebook page announced Dec. 14 is the final day of business for the arcade/restaurant at 1902 W. Superior St. Owner Tom Hanson told WDIO News the business was doing fine financially, but limited kitchen space at Corktown Deli & Brews, where the tacos were prepared, made it too difficult to produce the volume and variety of food needed to supply customers of two restaurants.

Hanson also told WDIO a new tenant is lined up for the space.

Meanwhile, across the street at 1907 W. Superior St., Hanson is opening a new cocktail lounge called the Noble Pour on Dec. 15.

Beijing Restaurant could reopen before end of 2019

Fox 21 News reports Beijing Restaurant at 1918 London Road is close to reopening after a 2018 fire forced its closure.

Cloquet’s Northeast Bar & Grill calls it quits

The Northeast Bar & Grill, also known as NE BBQ & Smokehouse, formally announced its closure on Facebook today. The last day of business was Oct. 12.

“We so loved our patrons and are so very sad to end the business that we loved so well,” part of the message read. “Unfortunately, we are receiving more inquiries now than we ever did while in business. That said: If you love a place, support it and patronize often. We have several surviving businesses in town that need that type of support.”

Lake Superior Bakehouse closing coffee shop; baking continues
