Treasures of the Earth – Green Art & Goods Fair

Treasures of the Earth – Green Art & Goods Fair. Held at the Unitarian Church, 835 W. College St., Duluth – March 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A variety of local artists will have booths showing what they are making out of local natural materials (wood, stone, bark, fiber) or recycled material. There will also be a nature photography and nature art section at the fair. These earth friendly and earth inspiring items make great additions to your home, cabin or as gifts throughout the year. Come shop. You will find many creative and unique items at this fair. Local made is the way to go. Get it Local Gift Fair – Dec. 5

Saturday, Dec. 5 – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is the 3rd year for the fair that has over 25 local artists and a mix of nonprofits providing key services and support in the area.

What you will find there: artwork, pottery, jewelry, felted and sewn items, and so many unique items.

Annual Grand Used Book Sale

Come get bargain books, DVDs, videos, CDs, vinyl and more at the annual book sale held at the Duluth Public Library, 520 W. Superior St. Hours for the sale are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Aug 19 and 20 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the bag sale on Friday, Aug 21. The sale is open to Friends members only on Tuesday, Aug 18 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be a special handicap-accessible shopping time from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wed, Aug. 19. Book categories include children’s books, fiction, biographies, cookbooks, nature, and much more. People can join Friends at the book fair or on-line at www.duluth.lib.mn.us/CS/Friends.html.

A silent auction will be held on the library upper level during the book fair and will have rare and unique books.

On Saturday, Aug 22, there will be a Book Fair at the Barnes & Noble at the Miller Hill Mall. Purchases made on that day will help to raise funds for the Friends of Library. The support voucher can be picked up at the book sale, at the library, or on-line at www.duluth.lib.mn.us/CS/Friends.html.

Stopover at Woman-Made: Marvelous Things Created by Northland Women on July 25.
This Art & Quality Craft Fair will be held on the last Saturday in July from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the College of St. Scholastica, Somers Lounge, 1200 Kenwood Ave.. in Duluth

This summer event (indoors, so it doesn’t matter what the weather is) will offer locals and tourists a spectacular place to shop for one-of a kind and handcrafted items made by over 25 local artists – all women.

Local made pottery, photography, artwork, clothing, sewn items, calendars, soap, water color art, fiber, books, as well as jewelry. It’s fun to see what moves people and the creativity flow that is alive and well in the Northland. Women-made items are a definite part of the businesses up here in the region and hand-made. Come to the fair and purchase plenty items to take home for yourself or as gifts.

A portion of the vendor fees will be donated to the YWCA Girl Power program.

May 2 -Dulcimer Day in Duluth festival

Fantastic guest performers playing the dulcimer (mountain and hammered), mandolin, bluegrass, old-time, ballads, clogging and good fun. Concerts at 1 pm and 7 pm. Local crafters 10 to 4 pm (concert pass required to get into crafter area which also includes a 4 pm contradance) Twenty classes starting at 9 a.m. to learn to play folk instrument.
