Silent movie on a date night in a church?

Who knew ??? with the movie community all abuzz over the French  film, The Artist,”  the first silent movie in 80 years up for an Academy Award, that First Lutheran Church would be “trendy” this Friday night Feb 3 at 7:30 p.m. with the showing of the 1925 silent movie classic “Ben Hur: At Tale of the Christ” with the talented University of Michigan theater organist, Dr. Steven Ball providing some stunning  improvisational musical accompaniment on the church’s world-class pipe organ.   Tickets $10 adult, $5 student.  Join us!

President of Lutheran World Relief Gives Message at First Lutheran Church Duluth

The Rev. Dr. John Nunes, dynamic speaker, president and CEO of Lutheran World Relief (LWR) will be bringing the message about Lutheran World Relief at worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and adult forum at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 6. All are invited to attend.

Haiti Earthquake Victims

First Lutheran Church Duluth invites all to a day of prayer and remembrance of Ben Larson, his family and all the victims of the Haiti earthquake on the one year anniversary of this disaster.   Organized Prayer times in the church sanctuary will be 8:00-9:00 a.m., 12:00-12:30 p.m., 3:45-4:45 p.m. and 7:00-7:30 p.m.  Bells will be rung at 3:53 pm the time of the earthquake in support of “Bells for Haiti.”  Free will offerings will be accepted for ELCA World Relief efforts in Haiti.  The Sanctuary will be open all day for people to come and pray as their schedule allows.

First Lutheran Church Advent Vespers

What could be more perfect than to take an inspirational break from holiday business and stress? 

Join us at First Lutheran Church on Dec. 8, from 5:30-6 p.m., for a chance to quiet our hectic holiday lives and reflect on the message of Advent in song and story, candlelight and contemplation.  A light meal will be served following this half hour service in the Parish Hall.  Everyone is most welcome!
