MNTV Short Film Series Call for Entries!

Deadline for submission: Thursday, June 16, 2011

Curated by IFP MN and the Walker Art Center, MNTV showcases the finest films and videos produced in the state over the past two years. The showcase is a series of three one-hour broadcasts on TPT, featuring short films by Minnesota filmmakers of all levels of filmmaking experience. Submit your films now! There is no cost to apply!

If your film is selected,

  • it will be broadcast on Twin Cities Public Television (TPT-TV) and streamed online;
  • it will be installed in the Best Buy Film/Video Bay at the Walker Art Center;
  • you’ll be paid $500 in licensing fees.

The series will be broadcast in December 2011.

IFP Cinema Lounge in Duluth

IFP Media Arts‘ hit screening series, Cinema Lounge, will showcase short films by Duluth-area filmmakers at 7PM on Friday, Nov. 5 at Duluth’s Zinema2 Theater. The filmmakers will be in attendance for a Q&A, hosted by award-winning director Stephen Gurewitz. The Zeitgeist Arts Café will host the post-screening party.

Cinema Lounge Call for Entries

IFP’s Cinema Lounge is coming to Duluth on November 5! This fun and somewhat crazy annual event will take place at 7pm at the supercool Zinema2. Our fun and friendly Cinema Lounge host will screen the best of the latest Duluth-area short films and interview the directors. If you have a short film — under 20 minutes — that you’d like to submit for consideration, please contact Max Becker at 651-644-1912 or [email protected].

Fresh Filmmakers Production Grant Call for Entries

IFP Minnesota’s Fresh Filmmakers Production Grant will facilitate the production of one short narrative film (ten minutes or less) directed by a filmmaker who has been making films for no more than five years.

The winning filmmaker will receive a $1000 stipend, mentorship by some of Minnesota’s most accomplished filmmakers, professional services from casting through distribution, and high-end camera and equipment rental.

To apply, you’ll need a 7-page screenplay, a reel, a budget, a production plan, a resume, and other supporting documentation. DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 13, 2010.

MNTV Short Film Series Call for Entries

Hey all you filmmakers hanging out at Homegrown: It’s time to submit your short films to MNTV 2010! Last year Brian Barber’s excellent Homegrown animation was selected — keep ’em coming! If your film is selected, it will be broadcast on Twin Cities Public Television (TPT-TV) and streamed online, and you’ll be paid $500 in licensing fees.

If you have a film that’s 30 minutes or shorter, please download the submission guidelines and application form at ifpmn.org/mntv. Deadline for submission: June 10, 2010.

Women Stand Up and Shoot: A Comedic Film Competition

“Women Stand Up! A Comedy Cabaret” & IFP Minnesota are pleased to announce…Women Stand Up and Shoot: A Comedic Film Competition!

The purpose of Women Stand Up and Shoot is to promote and encourage women writers, actors and directors in film comedies. Send in your best woman-made, woman-starry short comedy films!

Films will be judged by our amazing panel of nationally-known funny Minnesota-bred women: Lizz Winstead, Jackie Kashian, and Mary Jo Pehl!

The submission deadline is April 21, 2010. Films will be screened at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theater in May 2010. Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place.

Indie Film Night is this Saturday, November 7, at the hottest new arthouse theater in the entire country, the ZINEMA2 at 222 East Superior Street. Here’s the rundown:

4:00 – Info session on how to apply to the $25k McKnight Filmmaking and Screenwriting Fellowships – FREE

5:00 – CINEMA LOUNGE with the best short films made by Duluth-area filmmakers, and interviews with the supercool filmmakers – FREE

7:30 – Duluth premiere of the MN-made feature that’s taking the indie film world by storm: INTO TEMPTATION, starring Kristin Chenoweth and with an appearance by director Patrick Coyle! – $10

Two Duluth Filmmakers Added to Indie Film Night Lineup!

Duluth filmmakers Carrie Boberg and Maxwell Becker have been added to the lineup of fabulous northland media stars appearing at this year’s Indie Film Night Cinema Lounge, or, as we’re calling it this year because of its venue, ZINEMA LOUNGE.
