Great Food. Bad Punctuation.
For as swanky as Black Water is you’d think management would check the signage better.

why if you want to see Sweeney Todd, or any Playground performance, you can’t buy tickets in advance? Oh wait, you CAN buy tickets in advance online but you have to pay a $2.50 convenience fee per ticket. Wouldn’t it be more convenient to skip the fee and just sell tickets in advance at the door?
I really just don’t get why every other theater in town can sell tickets in advance but the Playground insists on using this odd system.
So, really, can anyone explain this to me? Because I don’t get it.
I’ll start. Here ya go. I set the bar low. Go ahead. Jump over it.
It’s around timecode 3:25.
Thanks to everyone who came to my shindig. Aside from Bloody Marys, we had Mimosas, Coffee with Bailey’s, Biscuits and Gravy, lots of Fruit, a Ginormous Donut (thanks to Lucie and Jason), Lil’ Smokies, and Miniature Quiches.
Oh yeah, we watched people exert themselves while we sat in the shade sipping cool drinks. All in all, a really good day.
The Olde World Renaissance Faire is next weekend, June 13 & 14. If you’ve never been, take some time to go. It’s great fun!
Mayor Bolen of Two Harbors will be convening a public meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the Two Harbor Community Center to discuss ideas for using the remains of the Honking Tree.
Suggestions?
So, the word is that Movies in the Park is a little low on sponsors this year and I had the idea that maybe PerfectDuluthDay could take up a collection to help underwrite the series or, if we get $1000, even sponsor one of the movies. I, personally, would be willing to contribute as I think it’s a great thing for the community. So, my questions are:
1) Would other people be willing to cough up some dough?
2) Does someone have a good idea of how to collect said money in a safe way? Preferably on line with paypal or some such thing.
3) Would the PDD powers-that-be be willing to bless such a sponsorship?
4) If we do break the $1000 mark and can sponsor a night, which movie would we like to sponsor? We get a free week of on air publicity and can do some sort of hosting event that night before the movie.
Discuss.

Come on people! Let’s see some Duluthians on this registry!
On April 18 I’m going to be hosting the first ever Sci Fi Spelling Bee at the Geek Prom and I need your help. I’m looking for words, terms, people and place names, and so on that are native to some science fiction franchise for use in the bee.
Please give me the following information for your entry.
Word (eg – phaser, Kashyyyk, frak)
Origin (what franchise) (eg – Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica)
Usage (eg – “Set your phaser to stun!” “Chewbacca went back to Kashyyyk.” “What the frak are you talking about?”)
If possible also give me some Documentation (a web link would be good) supporting your entry.
Also, these words don’t have to be hard. They can be fairly simple or intermediate words. They just have to be sci fi words.
So that we don’t spill the beans on all the words for the contestants, please don’t put them in the comments, but send them to me at [email protected].
Thanks for your help! This should be fun!
