Community organizers from Winona, MN are touring the Midwest to talk to communities about mutual aid in the shadow of massive financial crisis. The event will feature a lecture on capitalism, debt crisis, and mutual aid, followed by a group discussion and music by Froseph.

Come to this presentation to share your experiences with the recession, compare survival notes, and discuss the ways our communities can organize to alleviate the symptoms of an unstable economy.

oh so Critical Mass!!

Alright kids, the sun is out, the birds are chirpin and vitamin D is flowing through our veins again! Put on a dirty pair of undies cause its time to get physical. Yep you guessed it the season for riding together en flock is upon us. mixed with the whimsical whirr of our mighty bicycle machines i hear whispers of a Critical Mass forming this month, apr. 30th 5:30 at the Lief Erickson statue (12th E. and London). Ride in solidarity with our sisters and brothers around the world. See you out there.

Hannah House (Loaves and Fishes) Fundraiser

The Hannah House Women’s Hospitality Collective is hosting a fun(d) raiser May 7 & 8 from 5:30-7:30pm ($11 single $20 couple kids under 10 free) at St. Paul’s church (Superior and 17th ave. E.). There will also be a silent auction of hand crafts made by folks in the Loaves & Fishes community on Jefferson St. in addition to live music. Proceeds will go toward house improvements in preparation for opening our doors to women who would otherwise be homeless. In addition to hospitality Hannah House will be a community space for women’s resources, events, workshops, and our dreams. We need solidarity and mutual aid much more than money so please come out and meet us!

Support three local cyclists who have been receiving tickets for “impeding traffic” while they were riding legally on the city designated bike route in downtown Duluth. There will be a free breakfast from 7-8 a.m. Sept. 15 at Leif Erickson Statue, followed by a group bike ride to the court house for the three’s first court date.

Bike on down to the Cave for an evening of food and film! We’ll be screening Veer, a new documentary film that follows five bike enthusiasts over the course of a year, illuminating their struggles and triumphs while depicting different aspects of today’s bike culture.
