Glad to see that's rebuilt, but when will you be able to drive past Jay Cooke to Fond Du Lac? Are they working on a stretch of road that got washed out? Or is it just not ever going to get fixed like 63rd Ave West?
It will be a long time before you'll be able to drive Highway 210 from Fond du Lac into Jay Cooke State Park. Transportation officials are actually considering never repairing it because it will cost too much.
But the section of highway that extends from park headquarters out to Oldenburg Point is expected to reopen this month.
As for 63rd Avenue West, I really don't know, but I would hope to God they fix it before Grand Avenue is torn up for reconstruction.
I live right near 63rd and the last letter we got from the city said it was too late in the year to do bids for 63rd and they are planning to do bids in the spring. The last plan I heard was to keep Bristol street closed but Green and all the rest would go through like they used to. Green is in serious need of repair as well (and was before the flood) so personally I don't like that plan.
I noticed while reading the consent agenda for the city council, that they had approved the bid for RJS to replace the culvert on Bristol St. Hopefully that means an early spring start and maybe having 63rd open in the summer sometime.
The new Highway 210 Bridge in Jay Cooke State Park opened before Thanksgiving. So now motorists can drive to Oldenburg Point.
Highway 210 will remain closed from Oldenburg Point to Jay Cooke Road until Minnesota Power completes construction work in the Forbay Lake area.
An update to this post: The flood-damaged, two-mile-long section of Highway 210 in Jay Cooke State Park will be rebuilt, with work starting in summer 2015 and most likely to be completed in 2016.
