Claire Stewart – “Duluth, My Home Town”

A nifty animation by Dave and Jean Kirwan set to a 1961 jingle about our fair city. This took first place in the 2013 Playground Short Shorts Film Festival this weekend.

By the way, the mp3 of this little Claire Stewart ditty (along with the B side) is available here.

Thanks for posting this. I was going to put it up ... but I was going to do a lot of things that never get done. I am really hoping that the above image or one of the many many other fantastic images from the video will be future PDD Banners.

The 2nd and 3rd place videos were great, too. Brian (or whoever) are you able to embed them here, too? I think that the academy got it right for once these were all definitely just great short films.

I was somehow selected to compete but finished well down in the pack, which was appropriate as my skillz are not that frezh, I'm pretty new at it. The good news is that in addition to being a finalist, which was a tremendous honor, it also actually got me out of the house with Mrs. Goose (and no goslings!) for a couple of hours. And I was literally blown away with the quality of the films and the creative depth of field that we have in this town (and surrounds). I love Duluth! Oh and language police, no I was not "literally blown away" but feel free to jump all over me for that mistake, anyway.

I only saw this video on the you tubes, I don't know if the others are available yet. If so, yes, it would be great to see them.

Here are the top 3 from the fest according to the Playground's Facebook page:

1. Duluth, My Home Town, by Jean and Dave Kirwan
2. For Toby by Sarah Jean Kruchowski
3. Iron Ore Water by Dean Vogtman
