Okay, I'll be the critic, and you can be the gatekeeper. This song warmed up to me sometime last night. I don't know how or why. At first I thought it was depressing, then I realized maybe part of me likes being depressed, and maybe Duluth somehow fits into all off that. I'll miss being depressed when we're both not together anymore.
This tune is a marked improvement over that Monkey's thing they did in the church, creatively and stylistically. Sparwark still can't write a power ballad like Herzog, but who's counting? He's got the japers to take it to the streets and that's what matters. This song has 'coming into springtime' vibes, like the easter bunny with a giant cleaver and fangs. Did anyone else feel that? The dancing in this is much better too, I mean it. I think the band does much better at this kind of stuff or covers of Toto than when it writes songs about working. At first I also thought, 21 minutes, you got to be kidding! But the time went pretty fast, and I watched it a couple times, so that says something.
I have this on vinyl. I prefer the A side to the B side (this song is the b side) but this song is still really awesome. I didn't watch much more than a few minutes of the video because I'd rather listen to it on my stereo. I also agree that this is probably the best thing they have done.
