I saw a fox crossing the road out by the park a couple summers ago--I'd read that foxes were among the reasons that the bunnies were gone. [To which I say "good riddance."]
Nice photos! What a healthy-looking fox.
We have had a gray fox in our neighborhood (near the former East High School) recently. I looked it up, and the mammal book said that gray foxes climb trees!
Four kits were born out at the end of the runway at Sky Harbor this past spring (not the first year this has happened). One of them was injured on a fishing lure - DNR helped it, then returned it to its family. One of the kits (injured one?) became quite habituated to humans.
Lovely photos! Quite a character that fox has.
Interesting about the kit injured on the fishing lure. Besides all the lead that people out to enjoy themselves by attacking wildlife leave around, I wonder how many animals are injured each year by all the metal hooks and debris and nylon cords you lovers of nature litter the lakes with?
Thanks for the beautiful pictures and for the tally. We just love our occasional visits of nature's foxes, bears, and used to have rabbits! Chipmonks and squirrels are great visitors too.
"Hey Mildred, I love nature so much think I'll kill a black bear this Thursday. I dedicate the kill to you. Let us prey.
Biff Nimrod"
I guess this is supposed to inflame me or something. There are a lot of losers out there, I guess! Have fun!
