The Half Hearts release sophomore album Tuesday at the Electric Fetus
Duluth indie group the Half Hearts will release their sophomore album, Uptown Sound, on Tuesday at the Electric Fetus.
The Half Hearts have been described as a mix between Fleetwood Mac and the Pixies. This indie pop quartet combines elements of progressive rock, surf, grunge, cabaret, and neo-classical arrangements. Each member has a unique style – the Vintage Queen, Twee, Mountain Man, and Meta-Nerd. You wouldn’t think this line-up would work, but it comes together like a classic cheese-wine-fruit pairing.
The album takes listeners on an emotional journey that tells the stories of seedy gangsters, snobby hipsters, loose ladies, and lost loves.
Uptown Sound features lead vocals for each member – Caitie Collins, Flip, Robert Cox, and Mitch Miller. The ensemble prides themselves on major group synergy – each with a distinct talent and personality.
The Half Hearts just played Homegrown on May 6 and now leave for a national tour May 1o – June 4. Their next local shows will be June 3 at Thirsty Pagan Brewing and June 4 at Nick & Eddie in Minneapolis. Locals Honey Vein and Wyatt Famous will be on the bill at Thirsty Pagan.
Check out the group’s first two singles – “Frank Hate” and “Black Cat” as thehalfhearts.com.
