We're super-excited. They shot the video over the weekend. Should be done in a week or two. The guy who mixed the new Low record knows the Stamos (he almost played congas on the record -- apparently he's good) and he was cool enough to slum it for the video. I can't tell who they got for the female roll; there was one afternoon last week where it looked like it would be Demi Moore, but it didn't work out.
You might be surprised to learn John's biggest fan is a mentally disabled guy living down in the cities. It's true. This relative with Down Syndrome wore out all 23 seasons of his Full House dvds. You can't even imagine how much he worshiped uncle Jesse. But without any capacity to become cool himself (at least by societal standards), he understood in the main, it was cool to be cool. That being cool is the gold standard on which the world turns. So he became a veritable mockery of the very thing he admired, because everyone knows, no one is less cool than a retard. Elvis, the Fonz, Captain Kirk were also all very cool.
They all make art at this place called Interact, and the folks at the Walker go nuts for it because their muses are untouched by all the pretensions of 'normal artists' who work years to be able to create like children again, whereas it just comes naturally to these guys. But as Blake Edwards might say, 'let their art hang like an unknown masterpiece.'
When I hear 'Uncle Jesse' I think of the "Dukes of Hazzard" and not "Full House". Of course given this conversation neither of those TV shows would make a good basis for a Low video but John Stamos would probably make a better character in a Low video than Denver Pyle.
