Postcard from the Superior YMCA

This century-old postcard shows the old YMCA building at Ogden Avenue and 14th Street in Superior. Though the card is postmarked, the year is not legible.

It was sent to Hattie Smith of Chicago from someone named Mary. The message on the back reads:

Dear Hattie and all — Suppose you are steaming along the road or else at the dells. Well, Grandpa is still with us but still getting weaker. Had the Dr. this a.m. as he suffered so but he gave him a hypo and he is now sleeping. I didn’t think he would be here today but seems to be holding his own. Ruth and I stayed up last night. Annie came just 15 min. after you left yesterday. She had to go on to East End as they couldn’t stay here. Will drop another card soon. — Mary
