CHUM is great.
I wish, however, we were like most any other democracy and had universal health care and better laws protecting workers. Most bankruptcies (70%) in the US stem from catastrophic health care costs from sudden illness. The remaining are largely from sudden job loss.
We shouldn't have a country that allows so many children to go hungry just because parents get sick or lose a job.

To Sam's point, a nice thing about CHUM is that, in addition to having a shelter and food shelf, they do advocacy work...so they're trying to change the system and not just cope with it.
