Google map update

I just noticed that a new satellite image of my neighborhood is on google maps. The area used to be fuzzy and green; it was hard to see the houses clearly. Now we can tell that two people were getting out of my minivan when the image of my house was taken. It was taken sometime this summer.

The photo posted here is the Hartley Nature Center parking lot, not far away. The screen-grab doesn’t look as clear as it does originally. Maybe your house has been updated, too?

I'm still hoping the rest of the city gets included in StreetView soon.

Our neighborhood must have been updated this summer too. My kid noticed that our new neighbor's car was in the driveway, not the old abandoned car.

My neighborhood up in Two Harbors must also have been updated this summer. We can see the kid little swimming pool in the back yard and also noticed that our new car was on the street in front of our house. Aerial photos are really an improvement. Plus we have street view!

I can see my patio furniture and my best friend's super rusty car parked on the wrong side of the street, and I can see my illegal husband and I arguing about cleaning the gutters while I'm on my roof without safety equipment, attempting to spray them out with a hose. I remember this day clearly.

I give my boyfriend crap that the giant raspberry bush is taking over the porch (I don't care, I just think porch raspberries are funny).

I told him this morning that they can be seen from SPACE!

I'm also a fan of the clarity of Bing's Birds Eye view.

New in version 5 of Google Earth - You can view older imagery and see how locations have changed over time.

To do this, click the Historical Imagery button (looks like a clock) in the Google earth toolbar. Move the slider at the top left corner of the 3D viewer to see imagery of the past.

The most recent image of our house was Aug 29, 2010.

Make double sure you pull your building permits.

I'm pretty sure they came through this year just before Grandma's Marathon.

I dig the phallic grassy knoll in the center...

It must have been on a Sunday after Memorial Day weekend, because we have a playset instead of a swimming pool and my husband's car is in our driveway. :-)
