The PlayList season 2 kicks off Oct. 7

Experience trumpets and trombones, an insider’s look at a hilarious local musical, beautiful hand weaving by Two Harbors’ Deb Cooter, and more!  Join us for a front row seat as The PlayList launches a second season of exceptional, local arts programming Thursday, Oct. 7 at 9pm on WDSE-WRPT’s PBS North (8.1/31.1)!

Coal Car Caboose mixes its music with combinations of jazz, reggae and rhythm and blues.  The Duluth-based ska band brings its high energy sound to the WDSE-WRPT studio for its kick-off of the new season.  Seven accomplished musicians, three guitars, two trumpets, and a trombone create the sound of CCB.

Two Harbor’s weaver Deb Cooter shares her looms, her studio, and her creative energy.   In her hands, fiber and fabric turn into colorful, contemporary works of art.  Visit her studio for live action on the loom.

The Rubber Chicken Theater lends its cast and choreographer for a candid look at their latest production Evil Dead: The Musical.  Viewers will be treated to the fancy footwork of the cast as they perfect their dance steps under the instruction of cast member and choreographer Minden Hultstrom (who plays Annie).  The campy songs and farcical show makes for a whimsical look at a world of singing demons and hapless campers in this adaptation of the classic horror movie The Evil Dead.
