Wildrose: 1984 film shot on the Iron Range
It’s been 40 years since Wildrose, a feature film shot on Minnesota’s Iron Range, premiered in theaters. The full movie is available to stream in the video section of the Russian social media website Odnoklassniki, or ok.ru, and is embedded above.
The film stars Lisa Eichhorn and Tom Bower, with mostly nonprofessional actors filling out the rest of the roles and offering quite realistic portrayals of northern Minnesotans.
Most of the scenes were shot in Eveleth, but there are numerous scenes in Bayfield. From the 21:25 to 21:54 mark in movie the co-stars drive a pickup truck through Duluth on the way to Bayfield.
Wikipedia provides this synopsis:
Recently divorced from her abusive alcoholic husband (Stephen Yoakam), June’s (Lisa Eichhorn) job as a miner in Minnesota’s Mesabi Range becomes more challenging because of harassment from her male colleagues and a lack of support from her mother. She considers her independence, her family, and her future with fellow miner Rick (Tom Bower) as she develops a romantic relationship with him.
