A Video Journal of Lake Superior

This video ran on a loop at the Duluth Art Institute’s “Water Works” show June 20 to Aug. 25, 2013. It hadn’t made it to the internet yet.

The video documents my four-season interactions with Lake Superior circa 2010-2012 in and around Duluth (with some South Shore clips shot in Washburn). The loop format served it well, it is 42 minutes long and quiet, best viewed as ambient wallpaper — a lot of water, water sounds, and some early goofing around experiments that turned into the Lake Superior Aquaman thing immediately afterward, as I became aware of GoPros on camera sticks.

The camera used here was a handheld Kodak Playsport, displaying its quirky underwater audio. Excerpts of this ran in other versions that are still available on the old Aquaman channel that contains most of my material.
