Nostalgia for My Great-Grandparents’ Time: Cyclone Fence
A recent sale at the Duluth Public Library means that I picked up stacks of vintage magazines for cheap, and I’ve loved looking at some artful old advertisements. I especially love the ones that are in old, illustration style.
This one seems to have no real connection to Duluth, except indirectly. Cyclone Fence became a subsidiary of U.S. Steel in 1924. U.S. Steel, was, of course, the major employer in Morgan Park.
So it’s possible, maybe even likely, that the iron ore that passed through Duluth eventually found its way into this fencing.
