I’m starting a new project and need help. What do you know about Poetry Harbor?

I’m looking for people attached to Poetry Harbor.

Google tells me that the late Patrick McKinnon (DNT spotlight here) was a founder, maybe? So was Ellie Schoenfeld?

It looks like Larry Schug published with them (Obsessed with Mud)? So did Sheila Packa (Always Saying Goodbye)?

There were two award-winning anthologies, I think?

  • One with Linda Grover, Denise Sweet, others, called Nitaawichige, I think?
  • One with Jim Northrup, Adrian Louis, Al Hunter, and Denise Sweet, Days of Obsidian, Days of Grace, 1994.

Deb Cooper published The Gods of Wild Things with Poetry Harbor, yeah?

There were readings — it looks like Kyle Elden Heyesen “was involved” according to LinkedIn — as a reader? a host? an organizer?

And Poetry Harbor sponsored a KUMD segment or three? Or is the naming of the segment “Poetry Harbor” coincidental?

Poetry Harbor

Anyway. Can I buy an outdoor cup of coffee for anyone who can tell me the history of Poetry Harbor and help me ascertain whether I am headed down a dead end? Googling is overwhelming.

If I were looking for contacts, I think I'd check in with Liz Minette, who is active on FB. I'm not sure if that's an accurate choice, but at least she could send you to others, I think.

I can say with certainty that Patrick McKinnon and Ellie Schoenfeld were the co-founders of Poetry Harbor. So Ellie would be a great resource to you if you can find how to get in touch.
