PDD Video Lab: Cruising the Duluth Harbor on the Flame

In this edition of the PDD Video Lab we take a cruise with Lorraine and the kids on the Flame excursion boat in 1964. At the midway point of the video, the scene switches to the Edgewater Motel.

Both of the enterprises featured here are still in existence. Although the Flame hasn’t been in Duluth for many years, the Vista Fleet excursion business continues. Edgewater Motel is now known as Edgewater Hotel & Waterpark.

For music to accompany the old film footage we’ve chosen a tune by the undisputed master of the pan flute, Gheorghe Zamfir. “The Lonely Shephard” was composed by James Last for his 1977 album Memories from Russia.

I couldn't figure out why I kept expecting someone to exact revenge on that family until I realized the music is the theme song from Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.

Here I thought it was just a harmless Spaghetti Western tune until you informed me of its proximity to one of the dumbest fuck idiots to ever emerge from the land of lost dreams. And no, I'm not talking about Vladimir Donald.

Are we all supposed to know who the alleged idiot is? Zamfir? James Last? Quentin Tarantino? Please forgive the PDD video lab for so obliviously using such an apparently harmful tune.

By the way, when I Google search "Zamfir idiot" one of the results I get is the Backstreet Boys video for the song "I Want it that Way."
