Selective Focus: Member Show at the DAI
Tonight (Thursday, Feb. 6) from 5-8 p.m. is the opening of the annual Duluth Art Institute Member Show. It’s a great way to see and meet people from around town who make all kids of art. From painting, to sculpture, to photography, to mixed media, there’s a wide variety of mediums and experience on display until March 1 in the Great Hall of the Depot.
A majority of the more than 140 pieces on display are for sale and prices are noted on the label. There will be a vote for People’s Choice Award. Make sure to have your ballot submitted by 6 p.m. to get it counted. The first 50 people to submit a fully completed ballot/survey will receive a free DAI tote bag. If you are a DAI Member, you can pick up a free DAI tote during the Annual Member Show or from the DAI business office (Tuesday to Thursday call for availability, Friday 9-3).
Duluth Grill will be catering with a cash bar available.
The member show takes over the Great Hall, but all three regular DAI Gallery spaces are also celebrating new work tonight.
In the George Morrison Gallery, Laura Andrews & Paula Gudmundson: Integrated Vision
In the John Steffl Gallery, Shaun Chosa: War Paint
In the Corridor Gallery, Tommy Kronquist: Medium Control
The evening will also include artists talks, and a live musical performance played in conjunction with the “Integrated Vision” exhibition in the Morrison Gallery.
