Somehow reminds me of a note I found from my crazy uncle this morning, bug eaters watch out :
Yah, I'm gettin' old... Almost mixed it up with a couple of low lifes outside a liquor store where I stopped to buy propane this morning. They were like in their mid 30s, looking pretty rough, real losers. It was 10 in the morning and the dude was sitting behind the wheel hitting the bottle. So I'm outside the store, waiting for the clerk to come out and help me, and this dude with the bottle just keeps giving me the evil eye. So we had a stare down for a few minutes, for what reason escapes me. I got out of my car and was on the verge of dragging him out of his when his buddy comes out and screams at him for being an idiot, then they left. It was weird. The wife says 'Jesus, ur 68 and still ready to rumble?' I said why do you think I work out every day? The more I think about it, the more I believe that's the way I need to go out. I could feast with the gods in Valhalla. Must be the Germanic barbarian horde/gene thing.
The Civic Center gardens were a local favorite. Joe Priley, the city gardener kept them beautiful all summer. The drive around the Civic Center is named for Mr. Priley to recognize his years of service to beautify the City.
The postcard Dave posted in the comment above this one seems to depict a scene from prior to 1923, when the St. Louis County Jail was built. The Federal Building/United States Courthouse and Custom House followed in 1929 and Duluth City Hall followed in 1930.
The postcard included in this comment is circa 1938.
