Postcard from the Hill Top
Mailed in 1923, six years before the Aerial Transfer Bridge became the Aerial Lift Bridge, this postcard depicts the old days when a gondola car carried passengers, streetcars and wagons over the canal. Numerous buildings in this postcard are long gone.
Message from Aunt Doris to LeRoy Rothlisberger of Elgin Iowa, sent Aug. 28, 1923:
Dear LeRoy: Well how are you? We are feeling fine and starting towards home today. Got your mama’s letter Sat. Will see you all before long. Lovingly, Aunt Doris
