Selective Focus: Trees

I’ve heard there is an austere beauty to deserts, though I have never lived in one. Still, I can’t imagine, being from the North, a landscape without trees, or being without their practical, aesthetic, poetic, mythical, and allegorical implications — all there is of oxygenation, fuel, foliage, building, climbing from our simian origins, tree of life, the axis mundi, tree of knowledge…

Staying with the banal (and likewise possibly grand), next week’s theme will be “bed.” As the artist Luis Vidales said, “Bed is where essential moments happen in life… Not as in the place where children are created. When I want to write a poem, I go to bed.”

Blackish, white, light red, pale tan, rich dark deep blue, and deep golden ... a gorgeous selection of color and spirit. Congrats to the photographers and to you, Tim.
