Selective Focus: Sanctuary

Kip Praslowicz

Kip Praslowicz, “Basement- Silver City”

I would have found this week’s theme of sanctuary difficult, because to me the idea involves something more comprehensive. How do you take an image of an intangible concept like a community, comprised of myriad people and places where you feel secure and able to be your best self, and supported even when you occasionally fall shy of that measure?

As we round into a time of year where the parkas are stowed and layers shed, I think next week’s theme should celebrate what lies beneath: underwear. Why not? Nothing too risqué however, or taken without full consent (Narum, restrain yourself). Send your unwatermarked, signature-less images by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m to tim @ perfectduluthday.com — 1000px at their largest dimension — along with title (if any), and URL of your website, Facebook page, Tumblr, or Flickr stream.

Such a brilliant way to describe one's sanctuary!

Kip, I think he said sanctuary, not masterbatorium. Jesus. I feel dirty now. Hope you didn't pay good money to enter this dude's sin-bin. Then again, I suppose recompense of a 30 pack of Schlitz was probably just-rewards for securing this monument to mankind. Thanks for sharing.

If art were meant solely to elevate, we'd have vapid theme parks instead of museums, and propaganda in place of lively discourse (as merrily submitted above).
