Free Fix-it Clinic
You may have heard the story on MPR about fix-it clinics last Friday. If it sounded like a good idea to you, you’re in luck. Duluth Technology Company is hosting a fix-it clinic this Saturday. The Duluth East Daredevils robotics team and the Duluth MakerSpace also partner to help provide fixing and tinkering talents.
Bring any broken household items that you’d like to see fixed. We’re hoping to see lots of people with things to be fixed! We have some great volunteers who came to two fix-it clinics we did last Fall, but we’re hoping this idea grows in Duluth, so we’re always looking for more handy people to fix stuff.
What’s a fix-it clinic again?
A fix-it clinic is a community event where you can bring your broken household items to be repaired. Handy volunteers will help you diagnose your problem and help you fix it that day if possible. If parts are needed, they’ll help point you in the right direction.
One of our goals in hosting the fix-it clinics is to save items from going to the landfill if they don’t have to. Another goal is to encourage people to learn how to fix their things and encourage a culture of repairing and recycling in our community.
How does it work?
When you come to the fix-it clinic, you’ll check in at our front table, and our check-in person will help match you with a volunteer who can help fix your item. You’ll stay with your item from start to finish and learn something about how it works along the way.
