Upset (at the Mayor) in Duluth

Check out the image that accompanies this DNT article: Meeting with the Duluth mayor (link to full-size photo). Yikes! There’s not a whole lotta love in that room (especially from Ms. Tie-Dye)!

Isn't this the meeting where alcohol was going to be served, with happy citizens as a result, not surly ones? Maybe they ran out? Too-cheap boxed wine?

Don should have remembered to put on pants.

Mayor's note to self: "Next time I do this, have an open bar."

The headline should more accurately read, "Out of their mind bored by the Mayor."

This is a pretty common "resting face" for detailed policy discussions. The woman in the tie die actually asked a couple of insightful questions that were not at all angry.

I know the media wanted to make issue of the fact that there weren't many people there - which is legitimate. But I don't think it was fair of them to post unflattering pictures of people who took an hour of their day to engage in an hour long conversation about some really difficult challenges facing the city.

My coping mechanism was that I decided to make "eye" contact with the many empty chairs and the lines on the cushions which if you relax your eye to blurry can look somewhat like a slightly bemused smile.

But honestly, I feel good about the experience - the turnout was poor, but I really appreciated the questions from those who showed up - we had a good conversation (but admittedly - talking in detail about civic challenges is not the preferred way to spend a beautiful August afternoon).

It did seem like the paper picked the absolute worst photo to attach to the article (I'm not saying there's an agenda - just stating opinion).
I'm assuming that the photographer wasn't there for literally the 2 seconds it would take to get a single shot, or that this was the best of the bunch, as all of the others contained nudity, under-age drinking, fist-fights, DB Cooper, and/or Paul King with a "Fire Gronseth" sign.

Sounds like another Photoshop challenge.

Is that man holding a Grunseth sign? That's a throwback.
