There are new regulations put forth by a Duluth city councilor that might make this Lyft service illegal.

Taxi cab regulations may be getting stricter in Duluth

Do you think that this regulation would prevent this service from competing with regular Duluth taxis?  It appears to.  Anyone with further information?

I don't think so. This isn't a "real" taxi service. Because you pay a donation instead of a rate, the service finds itself a nice little loop-hole. Which also makes it possible to sneak past your auto insurance. 

There are much more strict taxi laws in the large cities that this service started in.
