Trampled by Turtles – “Alone”

The new Trampled by Turtles video premiered on the Country Music Channel. This was really a pleasure to see, both as a Duluthophile and a music lover. Our boys just keep getting bigger (and better). “World Premiere” music videos surely don’t have the same appointment television mystique that they did back in the early 80s on MTV, but still. This is cool.

Dave Simonett’s MN tattoo and various Duluth scenes and landscapes all have uncredited cameos. Feel free to do the “Where in Duluth?” game on them. I could only figure out a couple on my own.

Beach shots were from Park Point, past the airport. Inside shots were from a hotel room window in Canal Park. Basement and bar shots were from the Rathskeller below Tycoons. Shots of Simonette alone were filmed after, out of state.

Maybe some shots near Soleil Pines as well, but I'm not certain.

Here's another fun "Where in Duluth?" video.

Hopefully that person who always posts about crime in Duluth doesn't see this.

Is that from last year's Tea Party gathering?

For some reason, to me anyway, the more popular some artists get, the more they sound like Sting. Maybe Bruce Springsteen has had the same thing happen, only in reverse. I picked up an early Bo Ramsey album once, so rare, it doesn't even exist, and he sounded exactly like the Boss, thank God he found his own path. And some artist's children don't improve with heroin use.

Nice Bret.

I am excited to pick up the album. Like that they stay true to Duluth.

That board is pretty cool, so is the first on, not sure how that works but glad someone put time into it.

Springsteen's got his own thing going. Seeger Sessions anyone? The man's a modern folk musician straight outta Asbury Park NJ. Don't count him among the drowzed masses just because they play him on KQ.

Anyroad, I'm looking forward to the new TxT album. Talent like that's gotta be recognized.

Funny you bring up the Boss though, he and I are actually born on the same day, which turns out to be the best day all around. His parties are probably better than mine though. My lady was whistling Highway Patrolman the other day, and she asked me if the song or the film came first? It was a good question, and great film, maybe both, or neither, if you think about it. Either way, they were on to something there, succinct commentary on the futility of man's folly. But he should've also covered Seegers best tune, which is, "I Come and Stand at Every Door," scratch that, it wouldn't sound good in his voice.
