Arrowhead Regional Arts Council Grants

The Arrowhead Regional Arts Council approved on Jan. 19 grant applications totaling $64,000 to be awarded in Two-Year Administrative Support Grants.

The funding for these grants is made available by the Minnesota State Legislature and the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008. The arts organizations funded are as follows:

Twin Ports Wind Orchestra – Duluth ($8,000) The Twin Ports Wind Orchestra will use this grant to hire management personnel and concert production staff for the 2012 – 2013 concert season.

Range Artists Association – Hibbing ($8,000) The Range Artists Association will use this grant to increase the public’s awareness of the center as well as to pay for general operating costs.

Backus Community Center – International Falls ($8,000) The Backus Community Center will use this grant to raise the salary of the business manager and director in order to complete a business plan, do strategic planning, and facilitate board reorganization.

Arrowhead Chorale – Duluth ($8,000) The Arrowhead Chorale will use this grant to work with an intern on marketing and to acquire new skills and do networking by sending board and staff to two separate conferences..

Ely Greenstone Public Art Committee – Ely ($8,000) The Ely Greenstone Public Art Committee will use this grant to develop the administrative staff necessary to organize and maintain art classes, art shows, art education, and programming to support area artists.

Renegade Theater Company – Duluth ($8,000) The Renegade Theater Company will use this grant to support the new position of Executive Director, whose responsibilities will now include overall management of the Teatro Zuccone, including booking local and national acts and overseeing technical aspects of the space.

Nortun Lodge 1-016 – Duluth ($8,000) The Nortun Lodge 1-016 will use this grant to reach out to all Nordic organizations in the greater Duluth area to promote collaboration among these groups in order to enrich and diversify the program offerings to the community.

Crescendo Youth Orchestra – Hibbing ($8,000) The Crescendo Youth orchestra will use this grant to hire a part-time secretary.
