Wait a minute. Skyline Drive used to have a grassy median?

I think that was before I-35. One can see the rock wall on Tompson hill, behind the galvanized steel guard rail that is now there .

EmilySue, I've curated a few Duluth-Superior shipping-related galleries on flickr, and have them set up by decade up through the '80s.  None of the images are mine, but the galleries are a nice way to gather similar stuff.  Feel free to peruse them; if there are things you want included in your group I'm sure many of the users who've uploaded the images would gladly join the group and contribute.
