I hope it goes better than today's town hall went.

Why is it pathetic?

Is it pathetic we need a puppet to portray the congressman who won't come listen to his largest and most important district? Is it pathetic that his supporters are given priority at his real town hall and allowed to yell at the people asking the tough questions?

Sorry I missed yesterday's town hall, and thank Mr Nice for giving us all a little more notice re this August 30 town hall!

Yesterday's town hall sounds like it was a farce. I anticipate more substance at the Aug. 30 event.

Coming Soon.......Town Hall with Al Franken as played by Mr. Ineffective!

Now would all the Franken supporters think that this is Awe-Fucking-Some?

Lojizzmo, no wedgie at all when dealing with 'mental heavyweights" such as yourself.

Take it to the troll zone, OG

Aw, OG. Since you have not been paying attention, Franken has cosponsored at least two bills that both passed handily with large bipartisan majorities.

Live and learn.

Lojasmo

Cosponsored, sorry.

I, for one, welcome our new puppet overlord. It's a Hell of a lot better than the Blood Goddess.

OGDuluthian-- a town hall with Al Franken played by Mr. Ineffective would, of couse, not be Awe-Fuckin-Some. The reason is simple-- satire and mockery is only funny when it reflects an underlying truth.

Also this: http://thinkprogress.org/alyssa/2011/08/09/291800/daily-show-creator-lizz-winstead-on-supporting-planned-parenthood-and-why-progressives-are-funnier-than-conservatives/

"When you look at a conservative philosophy or worldview, conservatives continue to protect the status quo of things they think make things better, whether it's trickle-down economics or defense spending, no matter where it goes. It's hard to defend the big guy with humor. it isn't as effective. For me, if you're attacking people who are trying to make change, and you are governing through biblical scripture, and two people who love each other are morally wrong because a book written by fishermen 2,000 years ago says so, trying to defend that through humor is sort of bizarre. It doesn't seem like conservatives, when they use humor, are able to look at hypocrisy on a case by case basis. Even people who I vote for, people who I like, if they use their power for evil, or they fuck up, they become my target. Everyone should be called on their shit when they screw up or they're in bed with the wrong people. If conservative comedians aren't going to be the watchdogs for conservatives, then they're not going to be good social critics."

Fox already tried the "conservative humor" schtick, a'la Stewart's Daily Show.

It failed. Miserably.

I like Franken, and still think a Mr. Nice parody would be pretty funny... and I suspect so would Al.

I just want to thank Mr Nice for holding this Town Hall this evening. I suspect that Duluthians attending were a lot happier afterwards than those who found their way to the airport last week.

And I REALLY hope Mr Nice takes me up on my suggestion that Congressman Cravaack should open a field office in New Hampshire to save himself a little time, so constituents can visit when they are vacationing out there.
