I hope posting this isn’t out of line, but my wife told me it was OK. If I’m breaking any rules, please let me know so that I can blame her.

I am an experienced tutor looking for students in the Duluth / Superior area. I have extensive experience with special needs children, especially those on the autism spectrum, as well as those students who just need a little extra help.

My work experience includes three years of teaching high school English, five years with Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, two years as a caregiver through Autism Home Help Services in Illinois, and several years as a self-employed tutor. I am comfortable with all subjects, although higher math is not my specialty.

I am an excellent teacher of remedial math and reading skills, and employ several different multi-sensory techniques to each in order to reach all types of learners. I also use the Lindamood-Bell systems which incorporate air writing, drills, constant questioning for understanding, and questioning directed toward higher order thinking and communication. In addition, I have vast experience with improving reading fluency, rate, and comprehension through the use of several different visualizing and verbalizing techniques.

Summer is a great time to work on more difficult skills such as reading rate and fluency, verbal and written communication, and comprehension without the exhaustion that comes with regular school hours, and summer work gives students a great head start when September rolls around.
