What’s Obamacare? It sounds icky.

Another from our Rep.’s crack staff:

Cravaack Statement on Anniversary of Obamacare

(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Congressman Chip Cravaack (MN-8) released the following statement on the one year anniversary of Obamacare being signed into law:

“Today marks the one year anniversary of Obamacare being signed into law. Obamacare puts government between doctors and patients; is harmful to our job creating entrepreneurs and small business owners; and has been ruled unconstitutional in federal court. Despite broad opposition from the American people, the Obama Administration and their allies on Capitol Hill used every procedural trick in the book to ram through their nearly 3,000 page partisan health care takeover.

“Since then, report after report has shown Obamacare will cost significantly more than we were told, kill jobs, raise taxes, expand government control, and increase the cost of health care for northeast Minnesotans. In response, my colleagues and I in the House passed a simple, two-page bill to repeal this legislation and begin the process of replacing it with true reforms that will expand coverage while at the same time cutting costs to consumers. I will continue to fight against the folly of Obamacare and for common sense solutions to issues within our health care system.”

In general the second I read the word or phrase "Obamacare" I feel that discredits the source, the same goes "Barack Hussein." These phrases are used to mock, scare, or undermine, in my opinion, thus making them not creditable as a source.

If you don't like The Affordable Care Act, call it that, state the reason you don't like it and quit trying to confuse people.

Here are some gems from the "debate":

    - REP. JOHN BOEHNER (R-OH): Passage of health reform is "Armageddon" because the law will "ruin our country." [3/20/2010]

    - FRMR. SEN. RICK SANTORUM (R-PA): Health reform "will destroy the country" because, "in the next year or so," America will have to "dramatically cut the military because we can't pay for it." [10/23/2010]

    - SEN. TOM COBURN (R-OK): "There will be no insurance industry left in three years." [10/12/2010]

    - REP. MICHELE BACHMANN (R-MN): "On page 16, you can read for yourself that no new health insurance policies can be written once this federal plan comes into effect." [7/17/2009]

    - GLENN BECK: "This is the end of prosperity in America forever ... the end of America as you know it." [11/19/2009]

    - SEAN HANNITY: "If we get nationalized health care, it's over; this is socialism." [11/2/2009]

    - REP. PAUL BROUN (R-GA): "That's exactly what's going on in Canada and Great Britain today...and a lot of people are going to die." [7/10/09]

    - REP. LOUIE GOHMERT (R-TX): "I would hate to think that among five women, one of 'em is gonna die because we go to socialized care." [7/15/09]

    - REP. VIRGINIA FOXX (R-NC): "The Republican plan will make sure we bring down the cost of health care for all Americans and that ensures affordable access for all Americans and is pro-life because it will not put seniors in a position of being put to death by their government." [7/28/09]

    - SEN. TOM COBURN (R-OK): "I have a message for you: you're going to die soon...When you restrict the ability of the primary care givers in this country to do what is best for their senior patients, what you are doing is limiting their life expectancy." [12/1/09]

    - REP. MICHELE BACHMANN (R-MN): "Socialized medicine is the crown jewel of socialism. This will change our country forever." [11/3/2009]

Just to call it "Obamacare" shows what a Republican partisan weasel Cravaack is. It has a number and official name. Just another reason that the people's business cannot get done anymore. Nobody cares about what the taxpayers think or want. Then we have that Batsh*t crazy Michelle Bachmann. The world is going to hell in a hand basket and we have more than our share in Minnesota.

It's about time someone tells it like it is. Between Bachman, Chip,Palin, etc. we'll right the ship and get back on course. The hell with these socialists. Sooner or later moving will be their only option...

Has Chip Cravaack ever even visited Northeast Minnesota in the short time he's lived in Minnesota?

Hmm

Jim, what it is that makes you unable to see how vile and crooked the people you mentioned are? I say this not as a member of any political party, but as a person who judges political figures on their actions, attitude, and intellectual vigor. The people you mentioned are just the modern versions of Joe McCarthy.

Somebody should tell Cravaack that saying "Obamacare" six times a sentence doesn't make his argument sound any better. The term "Obamacare" doesn't even make sense. It's just Tea Party rhetoric to make Obama appear as an evil tyrant that came up with and passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act all on his own against everybody's will. He did this in a Duluth News Tribune editorial a couple months ago too. Regardless of political affiliations, I would certainly hope that the person we elect to represent us to the rest of the country would have a teensy bit more maturity than that.

I'm not sure if Jim is being sarcastic or not. But I think the 3 folks he mentioned are doing a wonderful job...of undermining their own cause, that is. Hopefully they will continue to alienate those who traditionally have lapped up their rants like sheep at the trough.

Tom: "Tea Party rhetoric"? Don't you mean "Tea Bagger rhetoric"?

I can't help shaking my head in dismay when someone makes this absurd argument that the Health Care Reform act "puts government between doctors and patients...." I guess our Congressman prefers to have profit seeking health insurance companies between doctors and patients. Government isn't always the answer to our problems, but in the case of health care, it's proven to have the ability to administer health care programs better than any other entity. Just ask Rep. Cravaak; he has been covered by his Navy health care plan, and still is. Either that, or he's now under the Congressional health care plan, and that works extremely well in terms of providing him, and his family, health care at no cost. It sure is easy to tell the little people government health care isn't any good, when you've been enjoying it for decades...

The government will run health care like Duluth runs its street repairs...

Claire

Yeah, CowChip would have a little more credibility if he gave up his government-financed health care plan. He really doesn't walk his talk, does he? What a hypocrite. And anyone who supports this kind of hypocrisy and chicanery just isn't paying attention.

Jim just likes to get people angry. He is a troll looking for people to take the bait.

DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS!

Jim: Where do you think all the funding has gone for things like street repairs, social programs and other vital institutions?? Seems like it started disappearing around..oh, I don't know...2000. Strange, isn't it?

And you know it's also your own relatives, friends and neighbors who may face financial ruin in the near future if the health care industry continues to control its own profits.

Jer-ry, you can't be any more naive. Our town has a storied history of spending every last penny on sweetheart AFSCME backroom deals. Don't you wonder why we have the worst infrastructure in the state? We've ingnored it in favor of our union brothers and sisters double than normal pension and health plans. I swear, some of you are so fucking stupid. Wake up! Drive over the bridge and check out Superiors streets. They are like new compared to ours. Go to the county tool shed at 4:02 and see how many people are still working. Zero. 8-4 baby. Gates are locked at 4:05. Anything more is a violation of their contract. Overtime? That will put a tidy 6 figure stipen into their pocket. Who cares if it's driving a plow. They're deserving, damn it, because they're union! They've had you by the short hairs for years and just now you are starting to notice!? And then to top it, you want the government to run health care?!! Holy shit, turn off the nitrous, drive north and ask some Canadians who need heart surgery how much they likle it. Stop being so fucking stupid!

The U.S. soon will spend an extra trillion dollars per year on health care, and for worse health outcomes compared to most European countries. The U.S. spends more than double most European countries per person, and gets less health out of it. This is bad economics and bad for health...

Here is a list of 14 "socialist" single payer universal government plans that support a healthier population and offer more doctor visits per citizen at less than HALF the cost. Maybe socialism isn't so bad.
