Cirrus to be acquired by Chinese Company

Cirrus Industries, parent company of Cirrus Aircraft of Duluth, announced today it will be acquired by China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Co. of Zhuhai, China. The transaction is expected to close by midyear.

Cirrus will apparently continue to assemble airplanes in Duluth. Mayor Don Ness issued this statement:

“We anticipate that this merger will give Cirrus the additional financial resources and stability to ensure their recovery and grow operations and employment as the economy rebounds. I appreciate the assurances that Cirrus management has given us that operations will remain in Duluth; obviously that is our primary concern. We look forward to continuing the partnership with Cirrus not only to retain local operations, but also to grow jobs and support the company’s future success.”

Translation of Chinese above:

"All your base, are belong to us."

It is supposed to be in jest, I imagine.

Way to go Jimmy! Couldn't leave well enough alone, could ya! Had to broker the deal to sell Cirrus to the Chinese. Holy shit, I thought we were finally done with him. No such luck. He had to drive one last dagger in our gut out of spite. You can kiss Cirrus goodbye within 5 years. Fuckin bastard sold us out, and tries to put a good spin on it. Wake up folks, your liberal heroes are selling us off piece by piece...

Well my telephone was ringing / And they told me it was Chairman Mao / You can tell him anything / 'Cause I just don't wanna talk to him now ...

What in the Good Lord's name is Jim talking about? Anyone?

Is he suggesting Jim Oberstar sold Cirrus to the Chinese? Did Jim Oberstar own Cirrus?

I'm very confused.

Jim's rant sounds like a Choose Your Own Adventure novel, except he replaced "novel" with "uninformed rant." But this makes me feel better about myself.

This sale is likely to be subject to the Foreign Investment and National Security Act, which will require a stringent review of the sale before transfer it to a Chinese owned company. Homeland Security, Treasury, the State Department and others will have to sign off on the sale before it is finalized. It will probably be approved as long as Cirrius does not manufacture any military-ready avionics. I don't think they do, but who knows what goes on b/w the cracks?

Is there a 300 foot rule in Zhuhai?

Trolling, eh? No, I leave that to Mr. Oberstar. He can't seem to give it up. Seems awfully quiet in here regarding this news. For starters, Jimmy brokered the deal. Secondly, the jobs will go bye-bye as quickly as the Red Stars can tool up. (Pun intended Timmy!) I assume most of you are in agreement, as it's common knowledge that Cirrus has pretty much reached sales capacity here in the states. It's a nice airplane, but fairly limited in its utility capacity. The Chinese are licking their chopsticks to get their hands on American avian technology, and Jimmy gave it to them with a silver platter. I think it's just so apropos that Jimmy's legacy will be the airbase and Cirrus both leaving.

Give it up. Your parochial insistence that the Chinese are anything other than better at capitalism than we are is ill-conceived and naive. If you want to see the eventual outcome of your Darwinian economic theories, it's looking at you square in your red-faced gob. They can afford to buy us out because your petro-industrial complex handed to them on a platter to fund their get-rich-scheme for Haliburton. I for one welcome globalism with all it's nationalism-busting glory. Hope you like tofu!

Sorry Baci, your ubiquitous little rants are nothing more than pretentious diction meant to inflate your self-absorbed ego. Oh, and no to the tofu pal. I prefer red meat, bloody and raw if possible...

Sorry Jim, your ubiquitous little rants are nothing more than pretentious diction meant to inflate your self-absorbed ego. Your sad attempt at remaining relevant is futile, as is your continued one-upmanship.

you're not winning any battles here, and you know it, therefore there must be some sociopathic (sociopathetic?) bent that keeps you coming back for more abuse...

Nice original post Zra. You must have been hanging out with Biden when he took his law exam. Loosen your turban a bit. Your lips are turning blue. http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-tie-a-turban-4

I am still wondering why no one except Baci (obviously crazy, doesn't count) is trying to defend the move that Cirrus is making on behalf of your former bike seat sniffing Congressman. Anyone? Buehler?

... just holding a mirror to your face, old buddy.

So, this is about your bruised ego then.

Tell me, where was your outrage when millions of American jobs were sent overseas to India and China? How did you feel about GM's plan to dump your beloved Hummer off on a Chinese manufacturing concern before they decided to kill the thing off once and for all? (Hey, at least it would have saved GM the trouble of assembling the damned things here by putting them together where their components were actually made ... in China.)

A true patriot would be asking these questions and demanding answers and not a bunch of economy bullshit from some million-dollar CEO bloviating on FOX about how hard it is to do business in this country.

A true patriot would recognize that the problem isn't and hasn't been with the ones who're in office now, but the money-grubbing greedos who've been raping our economy.

If you want to blame someone Jim, you can look at the three fingers pointing back at you for answers. Your handler's idea of putting America forward is really putting us behind.
