Winter Magic — 1992 Super Bowl Halftime Show at the Minneapolis Metrodome

The Black Eyed Peas halftime performance at Super Bowl XLV has been widely panned. Perhaps it just can’t live up to the awesome spectacle that was the 1992 halftime show.

(Yes, I use the phrase “awesome spectacle” to sardonically indicate how hilariously cheesy this two-part video is — although then-NFL-commissioner Paul Tagliabue notes in the preamble that the people of Minneapolis “set the standard” by which halftime shows will later be judged.)

Okay, Black-Eyed Peas were slightly better than that.

By the way, if you're looking for a lighted unitard like the one dancers wore during this year's halftime show -- and let's face it, who isn't? -- you can get one semi-locally. They were designed by Just For Kix in Baxter, Minn.

Glee was better than the halftime show. But I think they ripped off the Spin Collective.

Was that the last hurrah for Timberline productions? They put on one hell of a show! Prancing snowflakes or Robot wiiliam??? Hmmm ... Snowflakes every time.
