Duluth News Tribune: Online vs. Paper

I am looking for some advice regarding the Duluth New Tribune.  I recently stopped my paper subscription and am now reading the news online.

My problem is the online edition seems very hard to navigate.  I feel that not all the daily stories are available online, or they may be hidden underneath one of the many tabs.   (I emailed the News Tribune about this and was told that all stories printed in the paper copy are available online but I recently compared them and did not find this true.)

I have also noticed that the stories are displayed in a list, with no separation between “today’s news” and other recent stories.  This has a tiring effect on my mind since I am seeing the same stories for days.

Can anyone recommend a good way to read online so the same information is gleaned, or is this not possible?  I may go back to the paper edition.

This is why I continue to subscribe to the print versions of the DNT and the NY Times -- it's just much easier to read the print versions. And the DNT website does suck, it's poorly designed and takes too long to find what I am looking for. The NY Times website is much more clearly laid out, but I'd be on the computer all day if I tried to read it all online.

You get what you pay for.

Jim's comment is probably the best.

I as well always have been looking for a new way to read the paper without the print copy, but have never found a good way. Hence, I still have the paper copy.

The way to read the DNT digitally would probably be a hybrid of using the RSS feeds and the Twitter. That works best for me (RSS feeds=articles, Twitter=breaking news)

RSS feeds - it's the only way to sort through all the crap.

Have your spouse/partner/friend get up extra early each morning and scan the actual paper for you (or the paper from your neighbor's house if you are really feeling thrifty). Then you can read it online very easily!

No matter how organized a news organization's website is, nothing beats having the paper spread out on the kitchen table.

Yes having the actual paper in front of you is great from what I can remember, but as a transplant, I have been reading the Strib daily online for over ten years. The DNT which I try to check out daily, is not quite the site that the Strib or NYT boast. The way I approach the DNT is to get off the home page immediately and use the tab for news. The home page is terrible, but the first page of each tab should give you most of what is there for that day.

Look at the bright side. Daily I get to check out the Star and Tribune, the Duluth News Tribune, the New York Times and the Washington Post. Not to mention PDD. All this with no ink on my thumbs and less to recycle!

Thank you for your comments on this. I signed up for the paper version once again.

I am basically paying so I don't have to visit their online site, which I truly dislike.

I am again happy to be able to sort through the news at my leisure, and to recycle yesterday's news without having to see it as I read today's.
