I don't know if this applies to colleges students as much but as a parent I am deeply troubled by the rising violence against women and minorities that is condoned by the Teaparty and GOP. And it is very troubling that Republican politicians like Chip Cravaack remain silent on this recent "head stomping" attack on a woman at a public debate. Is Chip so afraid of his teaparty supporters that he can't condemn appalling violence like this?

I have a sneaking suspicion that the GOP doesn't see the prevention of violence against women and minorities as a big vote getter for them. Although Democrats might focus on these issues more than Republicans, it's not like Democrats talk about it a lot either.

Caring for people who don't have a lot of political power is not popular. Even women generally do not demand that a lot of political currency is spent on violence against women issues (and other womens' rights issues).
