This week on the Playlist
A unique blend of gypsy-bluegrass; cross-country experiences with Roadtrip Nation; landscapes by Sue Pavlatos and a sneak peek at the College of Saint Scholastica’s production of Twelfth Night are in the spotlight on The PlayList, Thursday, Oct. 28 at 9pm on WDSE-WRPT’s PBS North (8.1/31.1). (The PlayList is repeated Fridays at midnight.)
Local folk band Yeltzi brings its unique blend of gypsy swing and bluegrass to The PlayList for a live performance! Yeltzi is the songwriting pair of Sara Softich and Jason Wussow, whose music wonderfully captures the restless but quiet spirit only found by spending a winter or two in Duluth, Minnesota.
Bold, colorful creations spring forth from Sue Pavlatos’ palette and paint in her Cloquet studio. She creates landscapes in acrylics and watercolor from her studio; and shares her expertise by teaching workshops. Her images speak for themselves.
Local artist Calvin Stalvig is a recent college graduate, a painter, co-owner of a new gallery project, and one of the cast members of the current PBS production Roadtrip Nation. Calvin joins us in the studio for an interview about his current projects, his experiences on Roadtrip Nation, and his mission to give more young and independent Duluth artists a place to share their voice and vision.
The College of St. Scholastica opens its 2010-2011 theatre season with a performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night on October 29. See these young actors develop the ability to play characters of mistaken identity in this classic comedy.
