COGGS Movie Night: Bicycle Dreams

The third COGGS Movie Night at the Zinema is Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7:15.

We’ll be watching Bicycle Dreams, an award winning documentary on the Race Across America. The RAAM is one of the most difficult ultra endurance events in the country, requiring cyclists to traverse 3,000 miles over 10 days. The documentary details what it takes to compete in this event and the level of insanity that most of the racers exhibit to even entertain the notion.

Tickets are $7.50. It’s highly recommended you get yours early to reserve a seat.

Proceeds go to COGGS, the organization that has built and maintains multi-use singletrack trails at Mont du Lac, Spirit Moutain, Piedmont, Hartley and Lester-Amity.

And RIP to Jure Robic, five-time winner hit and killed by a car while training last Friday.

RAAM is insane. You don't want to watch but you just can't look away. Some of the "fail" video's of RAAM or events like this are really sick. Guys strapping their heads to their back to keep their head up, guys falling asleep and crashing, people's bodies just giving up, little or no sleep for days.

I might come and watch if I am in the mood. It really is something special to see some of these rider's determination.

I want to say thank you to the COGGS community for its work at Lester Amity. I am not a trail cyclist but enjoy their trails as hiking trails. I have spent many afternoons hiking these trails and they are wonderful. I haven't seen a biker on them yet but rest assured if I do see one I will move far off the trail so they have the right of way.

I'm another hiker who would like to thank COGGS for the Lester/Amity trails. I've been hiking out there for a couple years, and it's nice to see the trails used and maintained.
