Today’s vocabulary word: Varicocele

A varicocele is an enlargement of the veins of the scrotum, frequently causing a knotted or swollen appearance.

Fortunately, Duluth’s Progressive Medical Association had a “master specialist” back in the day. He considered the cause of a varicocele to be “often indiscretion” and listed as references some of “the leading businessmen of the city.”

I suffer from this. The doctor said it was a testicular aneurysm, actually, but it sounds about the same.

Mario, you just need to be cured to stay cured. Write your doctor a letter today.

I had a hernia surgery ten days ago, and ended up with a very uncomfortable collection of blood. No fun. Probably why I called the Central Hillside bad names.

It's understandable that this subject might touch a vein. (Insert rimshot.) Weak men have a hard time concentrating their minds.

You're sure Varicocele is not Italian for "ultralight bike saddle"?

Note the last line: "For sale by Max Wirth, Druggist."

Max built the Wirth Building, the gorgeous sandstone structure designed by his brother and noted Twin Ports architect George Wirth, now home to Lizzard's Gallery, just down the street from 1st West.

I realize this is a family show, but does "excessive dissipation" mean what I think it means?

It depends what you think it means -- "dissipation" in this context would most likely mean excessive drinking.

What does indiscretion even mean in this situation?

I believe that my "constitution is slowly being sapped"... but not in this context.

Bu-dum--TSH!
