Happy Record Store Day

Today is the third Saturday in April, which means that it’s officially Record Store Day. The way to celebrate Record Store Day is to go check out your local independent record stores, which in the Twin Ports means either the Electric Fetus or the Vinyl Cave.

From the official website:

A Record Store Day participating store is defined as a physical retailer whose product line consists of at least 50% music retail, whose company is not publicly traded and whose ownership is at least 70% located in the state of operation. (In other words, we’re dealing with real, live, physical, indie record stores-not online retailers or corporate behemoths).

I miss the Fetus' vinyl room.

Today at Albums on the Hill and Absolute Vinyl I got:

Husker Du - Warehouse: Songs and Stories 2xLP

Built To Spill - Water Sleepers/Linus and Lucy 7"

Rodriguez - Inner City Blues/I'm Gonna Live Till I Die 7"

Rolling Stones - Plundered My Soul/All Down The Line 7"

Again, record stores are not only great places to pick up music, but great places to interact with real, live human beings (if that's your thing).

During the Gallery Hop today I came across a collection of purses made out of records.

Check them out at Gaia Art Gallery. There's a whole line: Linda Ronstadt, the Cars, Elton John, Cyndi Lauper, etc.

Nowhere in my record shopping today did I stumble across Fromundas 7"s - way to taunt us, Barrett

Yeah, I didn't buy it from a record store, but from the band. I think they're all gone. Maybe an actual Fromunda will confirm.

Answer is yes! A limited number will be available at our Saturday night RT's show during homegrown. Here's my favorite local 7". RECORD STORES SAVED MY LIFE!

Oooh. That's a good record. I hope people keep this going.
