Stuff I like

I like Duluth spring.

Sure, we’re wearing sweaters and jackets and scarves, but the ice is breaking up on the creeks, bugs are flying, birds are singing, trees are sticky with sap, mud is muddy, little blades of grass are poking up through the moss, imaginary fish are biting, and the “fuzzy willows” as my boys call them, are, well, fuzzy.

I just woke up and saw a laker in the bay. What a welcome sight. I really hope this early nice weather continues, because in my experience, spring in Duluth goes for about 5 days at the beginning of June.

I like Duluth spring too! People complain that it's "long and cold" but I *like* the fact that it's long. Why rush into summer? Why not linger over spring?

Here-Here!

I have lived in Duluth for 18 years and this far and away the greatest spring ever. Hell I even have a bit of a tan already.

all the better for me, too...warm outside means kids play outside and get all of that pent-up kid energy out and fall asleep with ease.

doubly so because i get to try out all the fun gadgets and gear i purchased when it was cold out.

Yes, so nice. The tiny remainders of snow drifts are becoming a novelty. March, right?

The trouble with an awesome spring is that Klaus is convinced Portland must be open already. He doesn't have much longer to wait, but every time we drive past he yells, "I think the ice cream store is open!"

@Douobedutch, my kid did the same thing, wanted to go to Portland, we had to drive by to prove to her that it's not open yet. I agree with Starfire, *best spring ever!* I'm sorry I didn't get to use my Spirit season pass more often, esp. this month, but I loving this balmy weather! Hope it continues, I remember too many April snow storms. . .

I want to say there was a spring much like this one in the early '90s -- maybe '94 or '95 -- when the temperature got up into the 60s in March and never went back down. By April it stayed around 70 every day. I spent that whole spring reading crime novels in a lawn chair, which I bought especially for that purpose.

Who knows, we could have a blizzard by the end of the week, but even so, it's been great to skip over the lagging, cruddy part of winter this year.

Growing up in Cali, where the weather is pretty perfect year-round, I never really appreciated the seasons (such as they were). I think that's why I so appreciate spring now -- we worked for it, all winter long! But it does help me to escape to a warmer clime for at least a week in the dead of winter.
