Renegade Theater Company Grand Re-Opening

A new year, a new name, a new look. Renegade Comedy Theatre is changing its name to Renegade Theater Company. Please join us to celebrate! We’re having a party and silent auction fundraiser to coincide with the opening of our first show of our 2010 season, The Sparrow, on Thursday, Feb. 4.

The party is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and The Sparrow begins at 8 p.m. Both the party and the production will be held at the Teatro Zuccone, 222 E. Superior St. in downtown Duluth.

Featuring food from the Zeitgeist Arts Café and great silent auction items from dozens of businesses and organizations in the Northland, the evening will be a celebration of Renegade’s past and a welcoming of its future. We hope you will join us!

Why the name change?
Comedy. It’s just one little word. But when you love theater as much as we do, it’s hard to limit yourself to just comedy. Sure, we’ve been your favorite funny spot for nearly two decades, and that’s not going to stop just because that one little word isn’t in our name anymore. But now we’re aiming to be your favorite spot period. Whether you like comedy or drama, musicals or thrillers, Renegade is the place to see it.

Company. That’s another little word. But it means so very much. It means that Renegade isn’t anything without you. The people who offer their talents both onstage and off, and the people who support us with their dollars and their applause. We are not just a theater, some empty space with a stage and lights. We are a company, a group of people who fill that empty space with life. And we couldn’t do any of this without all of you.

I suppose this means there's no longer something funny going on...
