Shopping Advice…

I have developed a slight Mountain Dew Throwback problem — a love for a soda that I grew up on, with NO HFCs.  I avoid HFCs where possible.

But where can I find this tasty soda in Duluth?  Do you know of a gas station or corner shop that still has some?

I've seen twelve-packs at Cub and some 20oz bottles at Super One.

My personal observation has been that the Mountain Dew Throwback isn't quite as good as the high-fructose corn syrup version, but the Pepsi Throwback is much, much better than the HFCS Pepsi.

I picked mine up at Super One in West Duluth nearly a month ago; I assume they still stock it.

HFCs?
I know Cub has Coke from Mexico (not that kind, the legal kind) made with corn syrup. Would that fit your fix?

I've had no problem finding it pretty much anywhere, Holiday, Cub, SuperOne...
IMO it's way better than the HFCs version.

Thanks! I cleaned out (or it was cleaned out before I got there) the Target and Cub in Duluth, the SuperOne on Superior & 10th, and am working my way through SuperAmerica stations and Holiday Stations as I pass them.

Each place, I am only nabbing a twelve-pack here or a twelve-pack there. Just two weeks ago, there were mountains of the stuff. The "limited time" is running out, I guess. I appreciate the ideas so far, and welcome more.

The connections between HFC and diabetes are spooky, to me, and so any place I can go back to plain sugar, I will. Plus, I do find the Dew taste to be better -- less aftertaste, at least.

Bad Cat: I love the Coke from Mexico, but it's $4/litre -- ouch!

Thanks, all!

I didn't realize it was a limited time offer. What a strange idea: "At last! We've given you a healthier alternative ... for the summer."

I'm sure we'll see it come back in limited quantities at a higher price.

I learn so much from this site.
I think it was here (historical comment/post) that stated you can buy Mountain Dew in Canada with no caffeine.

There is a place in TX where you can mail order Dr. Pepper made with cane sugar

I hate the whole idea of the limited time crap. Lays makes a Jalapeno and Cheese potato chip that is one of my all time favorite chips. It used to be available all the time when it first came out a number of years ago. Then it disappeared and they brought it back a year or two ago for the summer. Then I saw it for like one week around the Super Bowl this year. Hey Douchebags! If people are willing to buy it, keep making it!
As for Mountain Dew, you don't think there's a steady market for a product not made with that nasty HFCS crap? If it affects production costs to make it with cane sugar then just charge more. Not really hard to figure out.

One of my coworkers has friends in Canada, so when she goes to visit, I have her bring me back some Coke. Sugar sweetened= WAY better.

I would gladly pay more for Coke sweetened with regular sugar.

Super One in West Duluth has a bucket of the 20 oz. bottles in a tub over in the freezer dept. by the rotisserie chickens

Thank you!

And, for those who (like me) believed the limited time:

I was in Minneapolis and stopped at Target. For $1 a can, they were selling "Pepsi Natural."

A limited time cheap, ongoing (and maybe even more healthfully formulated, I hope) for more. Sigh.
